Illusion of light. Boris Tombak's photography.

I would like to allure your attention to this important aspect as architectural photography. Photographing architecture - is a specific and delicate task to which Boris Tombak found his approach.

Boris Tombak (1945 - 2013), graduated from the Institute of Cinematography, architectural           photography has given most of his life. His work is well known to the general public after the books
"Music in the stone" (1980), "Guide's dialogues" (1981), "The City and Man" ( 1983), "Architectural masterpieces" (1986) or "Architectural walk in Moscow" ( 1998).  Photos of Boris Tombak were exhibited regularly on exhibitions of the Union of Architects. His works devoted Stalinist architecture, Moscow skyscrapers, subways, VDNH complex were especially well known.

For forty years he has taken pictures of thousands of buildings - from ancient temples to modern buildings. For each object, the photographer was able to find a special angle. Each image - as a frame of the film devoted to the city, architect, building, history - and each picture has a different story.

The exhibition includes photographs from the archives of Boris Tombak granted his widow Galina Davydova. The photos were focused on Moscow, VDNH complex and Stalinist's skyscrapers.
