British Design: patterns

Absolutely stunning exhibition in Pushkin museum with a variety of samples dedicated to the theme of british design, where the most interesting was a corner with chandelier and a table underneath.

The lamp is an engraved spiderweb made out of steel by Tom Dickson and wooden binding created on laser cut  with a glass on top by Menza project creating the unified concept which make sense only with the picture placed in between. The main concept which figured out by painting is the relation between science and nature. Starting from the beginning with a molecule devision you might notice how coffee table connected to the topic with the patterns constantly repeated on each side creating the solid version of something which looks naturally fragile. Chandelier on the top is made in s very similar manner with the use of complex structure where the same as on the first sample each detail slowly growing into another making the shape and form stainable. With a closer look to the pattern of separated steel pieces might notice the use of 3D grave on a 2D sample.

The room where British Design took place is small with a limited amount of items but what is precious is that each one of them should take your time to have a closer look to understand the purpose and meaning of how and those products have been made.

  1. Where do you find this beauty? I can only be jealous of your sense of style)
I absolutely adore how you've noticed the intricacies of the table structure, with its perplexing forms and polysemantic meaning of each and every design decision!

  3. An interesting choice, a table became an object of art! Actually, I think, it would be difficult for me to guess that it is a coffee table, if it wasn't written in the article) as I didn't notice the glass on it from the first sight)

  5. This is true for every design or product work where you really should spend your time to look closely and more detailed on the work to understand the concept and what artist meant. Good photo, I can see each piece nicely, even the shadows on the walls from the lamp.
