Ceramics in architecture

tile from the church of St. Nicholas , Moscow (1669)

The exhibition presents ceramic products of different centuries.

Any architectural space can change the skin and cause the most unusual emotions in humans. Ceramics from ancient times is the material with which architects are making emotional impact.

It is very interesting to look at the quality of materials, from what material these plates are made and how they joined together.
The exhibition will be interesting for those who are currently working on 3D wall panel now (materiality course) .

The first examples of 17th century technology with Belarusian artists are distinguished by their repetitive bright floral ornaments that came from the east.

Also at the exhibition you can see the tile of the architect Fyodor Shechtel, which he designed in 1891 together with the house Kuznetsova.
This tile is made in a typical Art Nouveau style with lush vegetation and floral ornaments.

In 1972 Lithuanian artist Bronjus Balyulevichus used in its panels unusual technique. He used a rough texture of baked clay and technological spalling and breakage. He covers the surface of the thin pulverized tinted clay to create a soft color range.

Amazing texture that looks like charcoal. But it's steel.
I was looking at it for a long time, how it is made, and highly recommend you to look at it live.

We can learn a lot from this ceramics tiles, for example about colour, forms and about how it was produced. Also, almost every object there were made and decorated in different way. So, we can learn about ceramics from past centuries.
