Moscow-City. Look from the inside.

Dear All, I would like to tell you few words about the most pathetic place in Moscow, namely, the Moscow International Business Centre, located  on Presnenskaya Naberezhnaya street. It is also called the Moscow-City Centre and represented by a number of towers, multifunctional trade centre and some other objects. MMBC is a project of Moscow Government, aimed on creating new centre of Moscow.

From my point of view the Moscow-City Centre is a really very beautiful place. Every object is an embodiment of contemporary technology and style. MMBC represents the highest buildings in Moscow, while the Moscow tower is the highest in East Europe.
Actually, the creators pursue high standards of building and design. Nowadays this is one of the most ambitious projects, therefore we can optimistically imagine the appearance of future Moscow.

At the same time MMBC is a city inside city.It includes office area, trade centre, private apartments and at the same time it is managed in a very special way. The ruling company Capital Group monopolises management of the main spheres in MMBC, starting from the Internet and parking and finishing with the security questions. Unfortunately, this company does not demonstrate the high level of service. This fact is quiet disappointing. Arendators and owners are ready to pay big money for the status, but what they get is the poor logistic and impossibility to solve their problems in the weekends. In my opinion this fact illustrates the absence of professionalism and respect to the client. In our country it is called the Russian business, when after getting money a company can neglect its obligations. I witnessed all this myself and now I am worried for the future. If such a wonderful project as MMBC creates a great field of abuse, including violations of antitrust laws, I can imagine what happens if this project expands as it is planned.

Well, why did I write all this? I suppose it is necessary to understand, that Russia is a country with a wick legislation, which stops guarding people if the case is about money.
At the same time I would for sure recommend you to attend MMBC. This s an opportunity to observe great examples of contemporary architecture and at the same time imagine, what if the whole city looked like this.

  1. The whole city look like this is Hong Kong. And I don't think that's the good way for Moscow to develop. As I could noticed myself skyscrapers housing can change the climate. So if Moscow goes the Hong Kong way we would have not only service and safety problems but also we'll get the cold and windy city. More cold and windy than now. So to my mind Moscow City as a special area - yes. The whole city the same - no way.

  2. I agree with Olga L. The Moscow City is a grain of sand in comparison with a whole Russia. If here businesspeople cares only about money, there are lots of build companies, which cares first of all about quality, because of their professional status.

  3. Moscow needs a new architecture, but this? Not solved the problem with parking, difficult accessibility by car. This area is not well off in terms of ecology due to change in wind direction after the construction of skyscrapers.

  4. I presume, it is quite interesting to discuss Moscow-City architectural ensemble since as far as I understood, different opinions about this group of buildings can be quite opposite. I just would like to share some of my thoughts with you.
To my mind, each city has its own unique image - a number of distinguishing features. It reveals itself in city architecture as well as in people mentality, climate peculiarities and so on and so forth. We can immediately distinguish Moscow from London, Florence and even from Saint Petersburg.
As for Moscow-City, I can regard these Business Centre as a try to transform our city into New York or Hong Kong. It looks like a pure copy of Hong Kong architecture with no adaptation to Moscow environment. It can be seen almost from every part of Moscow and therefore it spoils a big deal of good views and perspectives of 18th and 19th century architecture.
I think any new architecture being built in Moscow should be designed with taking into consideration surrounding environment and should not spoil the impression from old historic architecture.
It, fortunately, exists in Saint Petersburg. In Moscow, unfortunately, I cant see it yet.
