Standing at the crossroad in the limelight

The glass pyramid in Paris, is inserted in space, so that it does not cover the facade of the palace. It is just below the Louvre, besides elements of the building are visible through the glass. The large glass pyramid was built by Ieoh Ming Pei in 1989 and the lighting project was developed by American designer Claude Engle.

Despite the fact that the performance of the pyramid contrasts with the Louvre's Style, I still felt an eclectic harmony, such as reflective tinted glass echoes the stone the Louvre - light ocher and honey. Colours of the urban landscape is preserved, and the external high-tech atrium has shapes in common with the relics stored in the Museum of Ancient Egypt.

When the architect was presenting his project, the fusion of heaven and earth was established as the main idea. Everyone who descends into the underworld of the glass pyramid called the hall of Napoleon, can feel it: the perfectly transparent glass draws people’s attention to the heavens.

The purpose of the underground section of the glass pyramid in Paris is carefully thought over. Here you can dine in the cafe, change clothes in the cloakroom, and a spacious conference room is equipped with modern facilities.Upon entering the store, visitors find another one-fifth pyramid. All the pyramids comprise the windows through which the light shines in a special way and envelops space shimmering on metal surfaces and design stages.

It is impressive how they managed to breathe life into the dungeon and make it the center of crowded crossroads leading to a meeting with the art of different times.

The item that attracted me most was the stair-elevator located in the center of the pyramid. The unusual design draws the eyes of visitors, where the elevator literally grows out of the ground. It is intended for the carriage of handicapped people and those with disabilities. The general system of the Russian organization of space is such that facilities for people with disabilities are not provided. Europeans have much more significant contributions in this area. But still, this elevator is exceptional in its location, it is in the center of the pyramid, in the limelight, even though as a rule such elevators are located in the most remote places.

This integration of people with disabilities is not something to be ashamed of, because they are part of society, in this case the center of this society. In my opinion, this is the point the architects were trying to convey in having an elevator in the pyramid.
