In the Pushkin Museum of Fine, opened exhibition "Visiting Rodchenko and Stepanova", dedicated to the V. F. Stepanova‘s 120th anniversary.
During whole first semester at the BHSAD we was focusing on Russian
avant-garde and constructivism.
In continuing this issue, I choose to visit this
exhibition, among a lot of other events in Moscow. After visiting I was
regretted, that I didn’t do it during semester.
As said Pablo Picasso:
“Good artists copy, great artists steal”
And this exhibition has a lot of objects for stealing ideas.
The exposition tells about the family of avant-garde artists, the
founders of constructivism: Alexander Rodchenko, Varvara Stepanova. It covers
the period from the beginning of the 1910s until the mid-1930s, that allows to
trace the development of artists’s works from symbolism to abstraction and
constructivism.
Rodchenko is very versatile personage. He is known as one of the leaders
of non-objective painting, a father of constructivism, a pioneer of Soviet
photography and Soviet advertising. In
addition he was tutor in the VKHUTEMAS and on the exhibition also present the
works of his followers.
Varvara Stepanova better known as decorator. The couple worked together and Varvara was also so-creator of a lot of

It would have been a great inspiration for us during the ZIL project, so pity it opened after we finished. Nevertheless now we visit this exhibition with a particular view, more concious, with more knowledge. It is always worth. Moreover in Moscow there are a plenty of buildings from that times which we can work with so to bring ideas from this exhibition further.
