Continuing the theme of artistic duets, I would like to highlight the architectural bureau Archpole, as representatives of contemporary Russian art scene. This bureau founded by Anna Sazhinov and Konstantin Lagutin.
A distinctive feature of this office is its own furniture production. They design unique furniture for each project. But I write about this office, because they have strong ideological position: Quality design should be accessible to everyone. And it is not just words. An integral part of each project is two-day opening event. It runs as exhibition-lecture. On these events architects explain all design and construction details, which was solved during project. Access to the opening is free, and it is a resource of useful information.
At the end of September, I was lucky to
attend the opening of a new project Arhpole SecondFriendStore. The main concept
of this interior: city inside.
This is some quotes from Facebook, how
Archpole describe its project:
"The idea of
the city involves the separation of the room not just to the area and
development, but also in the old and new parts. If the new city (zone trade) -
this is a great open space, the old city - it's narrow streets, courtyards and
houses adjacent to each other…
...Understanding
how should be the house and how they can be positioned relative to each other has
changed in the course of "evolution." At some point there was the
best solution, which became final. As a result, a new area of the city became
an independent city block, with its internal structure: private and public
spaces.
The room
for staff need 4 working place and it involves
communication between people, we decided not to remove it in a separate room,
and make open "area" through which one way or another are all
internal workflows. It is part of the urban environment and belongs to the
city. Under the same category falls and mini kitchen and dining room. Both of
these areas are playing the role of public spaces, surrounded by private
prostrantvami: accountant room,
photostudio,meeting room and warehouse".[1]
And usefull construction details:
"The center point of the square, monument, functional -
the cash desk, as well as all new, should be in the most minimalist style. After
going through all the possible solutions for the production of this item, we
realized that the closest material to implement - is Corian, but strict budget
immediately brought us to the realization of the idea that object construction
forces, according to the principle of construction of the wall ...
... 3 days at the facility increased from stand
absolutely identical material walls that supported the concept of minimalist in
all new construction elements. In addition to the visual advantages and speed
of the Incarnation, this would save us about 150 000 rub budgeted, and allowed to
buy higher-quality lighting spotlights around the perimeter of the room, which
was laid a very important meaning".[2]
I suggest to follow this guys on Instagram and
facebook, there is plenty of really necessary information for architects.
