Zaryadye tomorrow

In last couple of years Moscow government radically changed its opinion about architecture: there are a lot of competitions with international jury, city live is observed and analyzed by good professionals, people speak more about urban planning etc. All of this is the result of new Moscow’s urban strategy made by new major and his team. So a few days ago we could see the completion of very important part in the development one of the most ambitious and grandiose projects in Moscow and in the world. On the 12 of November the jury declared the winners of Zaryadie park competition.

HYGIENE. RATIONALITY. ECONOMY.

It was the year of 1925. Summer in Paris. The Soviet Union took part in “the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes” and should have projected an image of itself as civilized and utterly progressive government. Some exhibits included Konstantin Mel'nikov's Soviet pavilion and displays of crafts, graphic design, architectural drawings, and works created at VKHUTEMAS. But one of the most remarkable and impressive exhibits was “Workers club” created by Russian respectable artist and photographer Aleksander Rodchenko.

Design of history

An Exhibition dedicated to 400 years of Imperial Romanov Dynasty took place from the 6-19 November in Manezhny Dvor Exhibition Centre. An incredible number of people, about 30 thousand people every day, stood in the huge queues to get acquainted with the rich history of Russia from the first Tsar Michael Fyodorovich from 1594 to Nicholas II. 1919.

Unhappy introduction

“Pit Mondrian is a great painter who should not be introduced…” – this is the phrase I might use to start any other article about this famous artist. But after the visit of exhibition “Pit Mondrian the way to abstraction” in the modern building of Tretyakov gallery you would not hear this phrase from me anymore.

MEMORY REANIMATION

The exhibition of world famous Polish artist Miroslaw Balka,
FRAGMENT is held at two venues  in Moscow, in the NCCA and Winzavod Centre of Contemporary Art , as a part of the 5th Moscow Biennial of Contemporary Art.

VOBLA, EPOXY FOAM and CONSTRUCTIVISM

The first thing popping-up in your mind when you see this might be the question "Is he serious?" Personally, I was embarrassed in a way the moment I entered the area with “Totan” exhibition. Works of various media by Totan Kuzembaev were displayed at the Schusev Museum of Architecture. Along with pictures of his buildings there were his newest sculptures and experimental objects. The latter causes diverse impressions and I would like to speculate more on this a bit later.
